Essential Equipment for Orbital Tube Welding Machine

From providing consistent welds and increasing safety standards to minimising downtime, orbital welding has taken over every industry that demands extreme precision. Moreover, this welding method can also be considered if:

  • You cannot complete the production process manually because of the complexities involved, as the workers' safety may be compromised. It can be handled properly with orbital tube welding

  • You want a large volume of welds that demands effective repeatability. As the process is 100% automatic, you can produce intricate components used in the electrical, aerospace, or automobile industry without any complications.

Now, before you make the orbital welding system a part of your production unit, you need to know about certain equipment of the system. This equipment aids in the faster, safer, and more effective working of the welding machine.

Essential Equipment of Orbital Tube Welding Machine

Four major pieces of equipment are needed for operating an orbital tube welding machine, and these are:

1. Welding Heads

Welding heads are needed for every application depending on the industry's requirements. For example, the heads used for welding a stainless steel tank may be different from those needed for pipes. Still, the weld head must hold an electrode to handle the flow of welding current, apply desired pressure on workpieces, and most importantly, maintain proper temperature.

2. Power Supply That Can Be Programmed

With a programmable power supply, you get the opportunity to set a particular range of critical components including the flow of the shielding gas, pulse rate, current intensity, and travel speed of the welding head. Commonly, the programmable power supply comes with three options: a portable, a mid-sized, and a full-range power supply.

3. Air or Water Coolant System

Either air or a water-based coolant system can help prevent overheating of the orbital tube welding machine. In addition, it also protects the operator from the heat output of the system.

4. Wire Feeder

Just as the name suggests, the wire feeder is a mechanism used for feeding wires into a welding head. It is either attached to the welding head or can be bought separately.

As you begin to set up a result-oriented fabrication plant using an orbital tube welding machine, consider the essential equipment critical for its seamless operation.
