  1. Right electrode grinding

    Orbital tube welding works best when a properly ground and consistent electrode is used in welding. You need to use the tungsten sharpener for the electrode. These sharpeners help you achieve a sharp grind on the electrode surface. This allows the smooth flow of the arc currents directly to the stainless steel weld surface, which helps you achieve a consistent and top-quality weld.

  2. Tiny tacks

    Smaller tacks are beneficial for orbital tube welding. Orbital welders generally walk around the weld pool from protruding tacks. With large tacks, you may not achieve consistent smaller tacks with the Tig weld. Or, it is better to first achieve a small finder triangle file and then run the groove via the centre tack. This helps the weld pool avoid missing the tack.

  3. Alignment

    Proper alignment is important to achieve top quality and consistent orbital tube welds. So, top-quality orbital tube cutting saw or tube face and make sure the burrs are effectively filed by using a fine file.

  4. Clean tube

    Orbital welders, generally, prefer a clean and good quality stainless tube. Get a fine scotch brite abrasive. Run the abrasive across the outside and inside of the tube and the area that is to be welded.

    Before welding and tacking, wipe the tube with acetone or alcohol solution. This helps to remove potential residue or grease from the stainless steel tube’s surface. This prevents any kind of inconsistency during welding.

  5. Accurate back purging

    If you face trouble in achieving the flat weld, or you achieve any internal suck back during welding, then it could be a result of the back purge. A majority of the tub welding works perfectly when the internal flow rate is approximately 5 lpm. Any inaccuracy in the reading may cause further inconsistencies in the welding quality and the welding will not achieve 100% potential.
